If the thought of putting oils on your face makes you think you’ll instantly break out like a teenage fry cook or become so shiny you can be seen from space, think again. Give your skin what it needs and you’ll be rewarded with healthy, nourished skin that will make your friends wonder why you suddenly look soooo good.
Face oils aren’t a new fad, but they are making a comeback. Before big cosmetic companies came along, women regularly used exotic oils to protect and beautify their skin. Back in the day, cosmetic manufacturers made similar products, but replaced pure natural oils with cheaper synthetic compounds. Modern science keeps coming up with less expensive alternatives for skin care trying to make a product women want. I don’t know about you, but I sure don’t want a ton of chemicals and potential toxins on my face!
So, what is a facial oil?
A facial oil is a blend of natural oils that offer nourishment for the skin and locks in moisture without clogging pores. It leaves your skin feeling silky soft and not greasy. It is the ultimate multipurpose skincare product for all skin types for both men and women.
And why should you use it?
If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I’m all about bringing out the natural beauty all women already have inside them. Face oils are the perfect tool to let your own natural beauty come out. It’s also one of the simplest things you can do for your skin with results that make you look like you go to the spa every day.
The real kicker for me is that it serves more than just one purpose. It moisturizes, protects your skin from the elements, can be used as a makeup primer, can be used as a makeup remover (you can check out my Cleansing Oil here), works for virtually all skin types, and best of all, it replaces all those toxic chemicals found in other products!
How do you apply it?
Start with a freshly washed face. While your skin is still damp, apply a few drops to the palm of your hand. Using your fingertips, pat the oil onto your face and neck. Gently massage into your skin using light, upward motions. If you use a toner, apply toner first. You can safely use the oils morning and night. A little bit goes a long way, so just a few drops will give you the results you’re looking for.
Pro tip: The skin on the back of your hands is another, often overlooked, place where we “show our age”. Apply a few drops to the back of your hands to give them the spa treatment too.
